"The Three Gorges: Migrant Memories and Landscape Transformation"
This project examines the cultural and political impacts of the Three Gorges Dam, focusing on how to ārestoreā submerged collective memories within specific spaces. By gathering archival footage, personal letters, and other artefacts, it aims to uncover and reconstruct the memories of individuals and communities affected by this monumental undertaking. The project invites those who experienced the displacement firsthand to engage in dialogue, with a particular focus on the submergence of historic towns, the displacement of millions, and the loss of cultural and ecological treasures. In connection with the theme of āfailure, impossibility, and the unknown,ā the work explores the loss and potential restoration of cultural and spatial memory through storytelling, incorporating visuals and sound.
