Boundaries are not only physical lines, but also psychological, administrative, and symbolic limits constructed by institutions. They are complex and multifaceted and can represent psychological as well as actual spatial limits.

This project investigates the relationship between identity, power, and institutional boundaries through the material transformation of official visa documents. By enlarging, repeating, and reorganising the visual language of these A4 forms—and then piercing them with sharp metal rods, I aim to expose how these administrative papers create invisible yet rigid boundaries that determine a person’s legal existence.

The installation turns these documents into a fragile, penetrable surfaces, making visible the violence embedded in bureaucratic systems. Through this material intervention, my project critically reflects on the recent incident of U.S. student visa cancellations and questions how easily ā€˜legal identity’ can be granted, suspended, or erased.
