Taut combines seven video works consisting of performance, digital animation and sound composition, to explore the theme of suffocation and control. Drawing from my experience of finding the delicate balance between my traditional Chinese family dynamics and contemporary international culture, the project investigates how control manifests physically, psychologically and culturally.

Each clip examines a distinct facet of constraint, including both external surveillance and internal struggles, culminating in acts of resistance and symbolic burial. As the number ten represents a full cycle in Chinese culture, this work has only seven clips to represent intentional incompleteness rather than coming to a satisfying resolution. Gradually progressing from passive observation to active refusal, the work aims to illustrate complex emotions emerging under excessive control while inviting audiences to reflect on similar experiences.
