"Ways of seeing reality through Kaleidoscope understanding"
âWays of seeing reality through Kaleidoscope understandingâ explores the influence of optical devices as a medium. It presents how a Kaleidoscope works and addresses the idea of the reversed perspective in relation to the built environment. This project began by asking questions such as âWhat an optical device conceals and reveals?â âWhat does in focus mean?â In doing so, I focused on a personal object that is significant to me: my glasses. Being farsighted, the convex lenses of my glasses act as magnifiers, distorting and magnifying what I see. This has prompted me to explore the Kaleidoscope that operates on a clever arrangement of multiple mirrors shaped like a prism, resulting in a series of visually complex and aesthetically rich patterns. The final work consists of three elements: a four-mirror Kaleidoscope I constructed, an engraved plaque featuring David Brewster's diagram and a collage that illustrates the direct application of the device to the environment.
