In the urban symphony of traffic, construction, and avian melodies, sparrows employ distinct strategies to adapt to the challenges posed by noise disturbances.

The project focuses on House Sparrows and Song Sparrows, unravelling their disparate responses to human-generated noise in the urban landscape. House Sparrows can strategically modify habitat preferences, seeking quieter areas to mitigate the interference of industrial noise with their daily activities. On the other hand, the more versatile Song Sparrows showcase a sophisticated adaptation by adjusting their song frequencies, navigating the persistent urban clamour with a nuanced approach.

Communication, stress levels, breeding behaviour, foraging efficiency, and overall well-being bear the brunt of incessant urban noise. Sparrows struggle to adapt to this anthropogenic soundscape, leading to altered breeding patterns, habitat fragmentation, and an ongoing quest for quieter spaces amidst the urban sprawl.

Song Sparrows potentially emphasise higher frequencies for enhanced recognition amid the urban cacophony.
