Are you inside or outside? Up or down? Watching or looking? Dominant or dominated? These questions refer to notions of perception, opinion, and approach. Do we choose the answers? What interferes with them, do they change? Are we actors or spectators of these changes? Altér(n)ation is an investigation that takes the gentrification process of Paris from the 1970s to this day as a venture point for a research by design project. Central to this project is the “change of perception” and how it convolutes our place within the society. Through the medium of the video the project gives resolution to the subject matter of “Change”. With the installation the subjective “Perception” of others and ourselves will be challenged.
