Here using the chair as a typology of forms, using multiple techniques of overlaying imagery we see 100 chairs all at once to try and see the purest form of what the idea of a chair is. As we navigate all these iterations, we can’t help but wonder, why do we have all these repetitions of thoughts? In Bruno Munari’s essay from 1944 ‘seeking comfort in an uncomfortable chair’, the Italian artist criticises designers greed and superficiality in their desires to constantly reinvent something, which he believed to already be perfected in the standard deck chair. To allow Bruno to continue in his criticism of our need of reinvention, we see him again, seeking comfort in uncomfortable chairs in the last gif.
