Stockpiling and hoarding were the key ideas I explored for my media studies project, as a reflection of my experience during the Covid-19 pandemic. Following the fast spread of pandemic, many people started stockpiling commodities like toilet paper. Research suggested that people who felt seriously threatened by the virus were more likely to have stockpiled toilet paper in the pandemic’s early days than those who were less worried about the virus. Drawing on my own feelings of insecurity and loss of control, I documented a shift on how I experience the interior space of my house. A space which once made me feel safe, now generates a feeling of anxiety. Following from my observations, I created a physical model of my room, made out of pulped paper mixed with glue and other layers of paper pressed together.
